Forms are everywhere in software, but most form tools haven't evolved beyond static grids of input fields. We built GudForm as a free, open-source alternative to Typeform with a focus on conversational UX and native AI agent integration.
Why Another Form Builder?
When we started GudForm, we wanted to solve two problems:
- Conversational forms work better. One question at a time feels more natural than overwhelming users with long forms.
- Agents need forms too. AI assistants should be able to create and fill forms just like humans.
Traditional form builders like Typeform are powerful but closed-source and expensive. We wanted to build something developers could self-host, extend, and integrate into their workflows.
MCP: Forms for AI Agents
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets AI assistants like Cursor and Claude interact with external tools. GudForm ships with native MCP support, which means:
- List forms from your workspace directly in Cursor
- Create new forms by describing them to an agent
- Fill forms conversationally without opening a browser
For teams building AI-powered apps, this means forms become programmable infrastructure instead of manual UI tasks.
Open Source & Self-Hostable
GudForm is MIT licensed and built on Next.js, Prisma, and PostgreSQL. You can:
- Deploy to Vercel, Railway, or any Node.js host
- Run locally with Docker
- Fork and customize for your needs
We offer a hosted SaaS version at gudform.com with Zapier integrations and team features, but the core product is free forever.
What's Next
We just shipped Embed support, Classic display mode (for traditional form layouts), and form versioning. Next up: better webhook debugging, conditional logic improvements, and more integrations.
